Hailing from
Sweden, these speaker cables are sold for hi-fi and home cinema use. Compared
to many 'upgrade' speaker cables, they're very affordable. Just as well,
because surround sound systems often require up to seven speaker cables. The
classic cables tested have pure copper multi-strand conductors, but importer
Glaive tells us that the latest batches have tin-plated cunductors
for greater long-term reliability (the copper oxidises in time). There's no
effect says Glaive, on sound quality, but applications in tricky environments,
such as car audio, are now possible. The cables
supplied - 3m for the fronts and centre, 10m for the rears - were fitted with
Glaive's own gold-plated 4mm banana plugs. These are of excellent quality and
look likely to last a long time. Sound quality from a Dolby Digital source is
equally impressive - adistinct leap forward over 'bodge' cabling.
Bass is more articulate and better-defined, while fine
details - notably those at the treble and - are delicately portrayed. The pace
and rhythm of music soundtracks (DVDs and CDs) are also conveyed well. In all,
a very nice cable for the money. |
